HARWICH – The chamber of commerce celebrated its 65th birthday at the visitors center last Wednesday with a gathering of members, residents, volunteers, music, cupcakes, and praise from Cape and Islands Senator Julian Cyr.

“It was truly an honor for our state senator to take time out from his busy schedule to present us with a citation,” said chamber Executive Director Cyndi Williams.

The citation presented by the Massachusetts House of Representatives gave the body’s congratulations to the chamber in recognition of its 65 years of advocacy and dedication to its members and the seven villages of Harwich. Cyr said through its dedication, the chamber has made a huge contribution to the vibrancy of the business community in Harwich.

It was a day for members and friends to come together and celebrate the strong bond the chamber has with the business community. The chamber visitors center building located in the heart of Harwich Port will also turn 20 years old in June.

“It’s a big year and busy year for the chamber,” Williams said.

Members, residents and volunteers meandered about enjoying cupcakes, small nibbles, punch and enjoying the music of Pitchfork, performed by Jennifer Falk and Colin Stevenson.

“The one thing that rocks the world for me is celebrating with past director Sandy Davidson,” said Williams of the former executive director, who served from 2004 to 2011
