James F. Trainor

James ‘Jim’  F. Trainor, of New London, NH, died December 28, 2024 after a brief illness.
Born March 11, 1942 in Lawrence, MA to Joseph A. Trainor and F. Rita (Connors) Trainor.  At age seven he moved to Lowell, MA where he lived until graduating from Lowell High School in 1960.
He went on to study at the East Coast Aerotech before starting a job at Kaman Aircraft Corporation in Connecticut. He then joined the Navy Air Reserve. After completing active duty he worked at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory and spent his summers as a reserve police officer in Hyannis, MA.
Constantly seeking new pursuits, he furthered his education at North Adams State College graduating with a BA in Biology and a MA in Education.  It was at college that he met, fell in love with, and married Susan G. (Martini) Trainor, his  wife of 54 years. They started their life in Clarksburg, MA, where he taught at Pittsfield High School.  In 1973, they relocated to Harwichport, Cape Cod, MA, where he continued to teach.  Eventually settling and raising a family in Orleans, MA, he found his professional calling in an enduring 50 plus year career in real estate.  He was an active member of his community, serving on many committees and boards.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan G. Trainor, his son James ‘Shamus’ F. Trainor Jr. and wife Jaime of Robbinston, ME, his daughter Maura L. Collias and husband Curt of Chatham, MA, and his son Rory O. Trainor and partner Lily Alia of New York City; his grandchildren Elizabeth, Keegan, Paige, Ronan, and Fox; his brother Daniel Trainor, his brother Joseph Trainor and wife Eileen, and many nephews and nieces, and cherished friends.  He is predeceased by his parents, his father in law Joseph A. Martini, mother in law Elizabeth A. Martini, his sister in law Hiroko Trainor and nephew Steven ‘Stevie’ Trainor.
