Rosemary A. Schreiner

Rosemary A. Schreiner of West Harwich, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on March 13, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late William Jeffery Schreiner.

Rosemary was born in Long Island City, NY, the daughter of the late John and Elvira (Calisto) Flood. Shortly after high school graduation, she pursed a career in nursing. Rosemary received her registered nurse degree from Henry Haywood Memorial Hospital in Gardner where she met her beloved husband William. Rosemary and Bill raised their 3 sons in Gardner and lived in East Templeton and Hudson.

Rosemary’s nursing career was long and robust. She worked at Clinton Hospital and Lakeview Nursing Home in Clinton and was the infectious control nurse for over 10 years at Cushing General Hospital in Framingham, the historic military hospital for wounded WWII veterans.

When Rosemary retired she moved to Cape Cod and settled in Dennis Port before moving to West Harwich over 30 years ago.

Rosemary was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church where she was a Eucharistic minister. She continued her love of nursing by volunteering as the parish nurse. She was an active volunteer of many years at the Family Pantry and an active member of the Hudson and Hyannis garden clubs. She loved helping people and enjoyed planting flowers throughout Harwich and local town villages.

Rosemary was always on the go and was known for her convertible Mustang. She would take any opportunity for a drive, especially to Pleasant Road Beach where she’d meet her friends or Brax Landing where they would enjoy lunch.

Rosemary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons William Jeffery Schreiner, Jr. of Brewster, Michael Schreiner of Hudson and Steven Schreiner of Framingham, her grandchildren Kristin Groves of Harwich, William Jeffery Schreiner, III of Sandwich, Joshua Schreiner of Framingham MA, her great-grandchildren Katelyn and Sarah Groves of Harwich and William Jeffery Schreiner, IV of Sandwich MA, and her great-great-granddaughter Brooklyn Schreiner. She is also survived by her brother-in-law George, and Mary Rowe. She was predeceased by her good friend Everett Buster Keyes and is survived by his daughter Kim who Rosemary considered like a daughter.

Visiting hours were held Tuesday, March 19th at Doane, Beal & Ames, 260 Main St. (Rt.28), West Harwich followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Main St. (Rt. 28) in West Harwich. There will be a graveside service at 12 noon on Thursday, March 21st at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, MA where Rosemary will be laid to rest with her beloved husband William.
