Robert Alan “Al” Sloan

July 09, 2025

Robert Alan “Al” Sloan, 75, of Harwich, Massachusetts, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025.  Al was born in Ottawa, Ontario to Robert Henry Sloan and Christine Sutherland Sloan on September 17, 1949.  He went to high school at Ridgemont High School and graduated in 1969.  He went on to earn a degree in 1983 from the University of Toronto.  He worked on the Money Market desk at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in New York City for the vast majority of his 30-year career with the bank and maintained the friendships developed there throughout retirement.  Al was often referred to as “PerpetuAL” by his sons for his constant desire to be active.  He enjoyed walking the dog with Janice, skiing with grandchildren, golfing with friends, planning his next big vacation, and meticulously detailing his Porsche.
Al also meticulously looked after his family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Janice Rosamond Sloan of Harwich, Massachusetts, his son Ryan (daughter-in-law Kathryn, grandchildren Eliza and Parker) of Melrose, Massachusetts, his son Kyle (grandchildren Will and Connor) of Ridgewood, New Jersey, and brother Bruce of Ottawa, Ontario.
More than anything, Al liked to spend time with family and friends – all who knew him are encouraged to take great care of those they love and always make time to enjoy a good laugh.
