Harwich Farmers Market Off To Great Start
The Farmers Market on the lawn of the Cultural Arts Municipal Building at 204 Sisson Rd. got off to a great start last Thursday.
“Thursday July 3 we kicked off the season of the 204 Market/Harwich Farmers Market and oh boy was it a great day!” said Director of Cultural Affairs Kara Mewhinney. “We had over 30 vendors, exceptional produce, honey, and great crafters, artists, and makers. With live music from Richard Hunt, we had a great start to the season! At one point we clicked in over 200 people that walked through the market.”
Vendors and customers alike were pleased with the market, which is returning after a year’s absence.
“The best part about the day was when folks would ask about recipe ideas and how to cook certain types of produce,” Mewhinney said. “Over at the Cape and Islands produce tent we were even able to learn about the purple sweet potatoes.”
This Thursday there will be several more farm stands added to the mix, expanding various farm-fresh produce options, Mewhinney added.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
