CHATHAM – The town is all decked out and ready for this weekend’s annual Christmas by the Sea celebration.
The weekend kicks off on Friday with the Children’s Light Parade, which starts at 5:30 at the community center. Led by Santa himself, kids and adults will proceed down Main Street to Sears Park for the annual lighting of the community Christmas tree at approximately 5:45 p.m. A festive time is guaranteed with caroling, hot chocolate and a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
For the rest of the evening, shops will be open and serving holiday-themed refreshments, with many offering sales and raffles to mark the season. From 6 to 9 p.m., free horse and carriage rides will be available at the town offices parking lot. Santa will visit with kids at his workshop at the downtown information booth.
Saturday’s events begin with Breakfast with Santa at 8 and 10 a.m. at the Wild Goose Tavern (tickets are required; visit www.chathaminfo.com/2024/08/26/christmas-by-the-sea/ for more information) and a screening of “The Grinch” at the Chatham Orpheum Theater at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the Chatham Elementary’s PTO. Pre-register at chathamorpheum.org/upcoming-events or get tickets at the door.
Shops will be open all day Saturday and Santa will be at his workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Watch for live entertainment along Main Street!
