Our View: Join Us In ‘Helping Neighbors’
We have a lot to be thankful for this year.
Though we recently lost a beloved friend in Karyn Hyora, we felt the outpouring of support from friends and readers, and drew together more closely than ever as a Chronicle family.
With your support, The Cape Cod Chronicle is growing, and we’re providing our brand of hometown journalism to more readers than ever before. We’ve added a new reporter, Mackenzie Blue, to our newsroom to expand our coverage in Brewster. We’re thankful that we’re independently owned at a time when media conglomerates continue to devour and destroy small newspapers. Even our office cat, Graycie, is in fine feline fettle and makes new friends each time readers visit the office.
Today, we’re also extremely privileged to be renewing our Helping Neighbors campaign to benefit the Family Pantry of Cape Cod. It’s a seasonal ritual we all look forward to: showcasing positive stories about the good work the Pantry does, and eagerly anticipating the next week’s donor tallies as our readers dig deep for a good cause.
This year, with your help, we’ll raise $115,000 to help put nutritious meals on the table for thousands of families, to help put decent clothing in their closets, helping to lift people out of despair. We’re thankful for our longstanding partnership with the Family Pantry, and for the volunteers, staff and longtime supporters who keep the Pantry humming. We encourage you to join us in giving what you can this holiday season, and remember that every donation is matched, dollar-for-dollar.
In sum, on this day devoted to thanksgiving, know that we appreciate your generosity, your business support and your friendship. We’re thankful for you.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
