One of the Nauset football team’s biggest stars is leaving his mark on the program.
Senior Isaiah Robinson etched his name in the record book on Friday when he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the season during the team’s 18-7 victory at Martha’s Vineyard.
Robinson, a Yarmouth resident, finished with more than 250 yards of total offense, including all three touchdowns for the Warriors (7-3). He became the first Nauset player to record 1,000 yards receiving in a single season.
“It’s really a result of all his hard work paying off,” Nauset coach Jesse Peno said. “He probably could’ve had a shot at it last year, but he missed five or six games. I’m sure if you asked him, it’s not something that he really set out to do, but it’s a pretty big deal in high school football. You don’t see it a ton.”
Robinson and the Warriors will travel to Dennis-Yarmouth on Thanksgiving morning for the schools’ annual Chowder Bowl game. Regardless of the outcome, Friday’s performance solidified Robinson’s place in Warriors history.
“It’s a credit to him,” Peno said of reaching 1,000 yards. “It’s a number to put with the visual impact you see he has on the field.”
