Business Page: J. Bar Brings Its Smooth Products To Chatham
J. Bar, a Harwich Port destination for smoothies, cold-pressed juices, salads, power bowls and more, has opened a second location in Chatham.
With a successful decade behind her in Harwich Port, owner Erin Tucker is excited about the new addition, located in the Shops at 400 Main on the East End of Chatham.
There were some skeptics when Tucker proposed the original concept of a juice bar with fresh fruits, vegetables and real unprocessed raw and organic ingredients 10 years ago.
"As an artist I started with a vision to connect to nature," she said recently. "I have a passion for healthy food and I decided to let it unfold."
J. Bar began with just smoothies and juices, Tucker recalled. "After two months I knew I needed to add food," she said. She added sandwiches made with Ezekiel sprouted grain breads and a mix of vegetables and avocados and soon was on to power bowls and more. "Then I dared to get a toaster," she said with a smile, and added avocado toast to the menu.
Tucker credits Kristin Muller, the landlord of 400 Main, with inspiring the decision to open a Chatham location. "She convinced me it's a no brainer," Tucker said. "I knew it was a great opportunity."
That was last spring. It took a while to get the shop ready. "The location needed work and TLC," Tucker said. "We worked on it and restored the place. Now there is a whole new look, with J.Bar energy — a cool place!"
While the Harwich Port location has been a seasonal establishment, Tucker hopes the Chatham location will give customers a chance to enjoy clean, vibrant eating approximately three-quarters of the year — the spring, summer, and fall.
"It's a really nice addition to the town," Tucker said. "It may be a challenging winter, but I know we have a great product and I know it will work. There's no other place like it." After opening on Oct. 9, she said "the response has been very supportive, all that we anticipated."
In the new location, J. Bar continues to offer the same high-quality, fresh meals that have earned a loyal following in Harwich Port, while also introducing new seasonal items like a coffee and tea bar as well as soups to warm the colder months.
A community grand opening event in Chatham is being planned for early spring. Follow J. Bar on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates. For more information about them, including the menu, visit www.capecodjuicebar.com.
