Mark Mara’s passion is photography. “My best friend got his camera first. We were ‘bench mates’ in school, and I started playing around with his camera.” Soon Mara got a camera of his own. “And I was hooked! Now we are both photographers.”
Mara grew up in Oradea, Romania, and lives in Harwich with his wife. He told me that as soon as he finished his studies, he had the opportunity to follow his passion. At first, he worked with other photographers, but he soon realized he preferred working for himself. So he started his own business and called it Mark Mara Photo.
“When I turn on my camera, it’s like I turn on the ‘photo mode’ inside my head and everything else fades away. At that moment, it’s just me and my camera… I believe that a ‘regular photoshoot’ should be an unforgettable experience, filled with jokes and lots of positive energy,” he said.
“If you are the kind of person who likes to have endless possibilities and absolute freedom of imagination while having a great time on a photoshoot, you are in the right place!”
He will take on any assignment: weddings, special events, senior portraits, family portraits and even pet portraits. “I love taking photographs of pets,” he said.
“I can do and will do everything but I really enjoy portrait photography. My dream one day is to do fashion shoots.” He claims to “have a relationship with portrait photography. I like to make it ‘wow!’”
“I believe in challenging the status quo and thinking differently when I’m taking photos. To me, photography is my escape from the world, a little pause in the everyday chaos.”
The Chronicle noticed Mara’s talent and has given him assignments, and will continue to do so. So you can see his work on our pages weekly, or you might see him at a local event.
He loves sharing his passion with you and creating great photos for you. “I believe in quality over quantity. High-quality photographs don’t have to break the bank, they shouldn't break the bank. I love what I do; I love taking photos.”
He invites you to go to his website and sign up for his newsletter for “updates, promotions, and more.”
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
