Business Page: An Enchanting Evening At Wequassett’s Supper On The Bay
With breathtaking views overlooking Pleasant Bay and the simplistic beauty of their grand lawn, the Wequassett Resort rolled out a new culinary concept this summer called “Supper on the Bay.”
Spearheading the evening is Executive Chef James Hackney and Chef de Cuisine Frans Braamse who executes every dish out of the outdoor kitchen set up by the water’s edge.
Chef Hackney is most excited about “offering the best creative culinary experience that mirrors the vibe of Cape Cod, renowned for open alfresco dining, stunning views of Pleasant Bay and a relaxed but refined service.” He notes that the most rewarding part of these events is “engaging with our guests on a more personal level and being able to offer an event that offers a weekly, approachable culinary theme to all.”
“Supper on the Bay” costs $195 per person and includes food, wine, taxes and gratuity. Everything is unlimited and features a welcome cocktail, passed hors d'oeuvres, and three courses of delightfully curated, family-style dishes (all with locally sourced ingredients). Passed red and white wine and live entertainment top off this magical evening.
The dinner experiences take place every Thursday with these upcoming themes to finish off summer: “Peru with a View” (a Peruvian BBQ featuring patatas brava, tiger prawns) on Aug. 15; a Mexican Fiesta (tacos, street corn) on Aug. 22; and “Our Summer Bounty” (seafood platters, summer salads) on Aug 29.
What’s to come for next season?
“Different themes, concepts and partnerships that are unique but still approachable,” said Hackney. “We hope to be able to reach a wider audience and create a strong following. We have a very magical venue that we want to share with the community.”
This is a special and memorable experience — the view, the ambiance and the elevated culinary offerings were exceptional. It is perfect for an anniversary, birthday celebrating or simply an unforgettable evening out with friends. Reservations must be made online in advance.
