Dana Emerson Clark

Dana Emerson Clark, 101, died June 6, 2024, after a blessedly short illness at his Brewster, Massachusetts Maplewood residence with his children by his side. Dana was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Irma (Lunden) Clark, and his wife of 20 years, Luise (Ryder) Clark. He is survived by his son Kenneth Clark (and wife Linda Clark) of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, his son Mitchell Clark (and wife Sandra Clark) of South Chatham, Massachusetts, his daughter Christine Wiegand (and husband William Wiegand) of Penn Yan, New York and stepson Joseph Ryder (and wife Mabel Ryder) of Davenport, Florida.

Dana’s post-war career revolved around teaching and coaching young people. Dana earned a master’s degree in education from Springfield College and an EdD from Syracuse University. He taught physical education and coached numerous sports during his tenure as a high school teacher at Northborough, MA, Washington, CT, Lyons, NY, West Hartford, CT, and Storrs, CT and later became a physical education department chairman at Southern Oregon College, Ithaca College and Eastern Connecticut State University.

Following the family’s interment service at Evergreen Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 21, at the First Congregational Church UCC of Harwich, 697 Main Street, Harwich, Massachusetts.
