“The stars aligned in mid-2023 when Don Aikman, my beloved late father and long-ago business partner, connected me to local artist and Watermark founder Marie Williams,” said Dawn Dinnan. “Marie had served the local community’s ‘desktop publishing’ design and editing needs for over two decades, and she was searching for the right person to continue to support her customers.”
By the end of that year, Williams’ “labor of love” became Dinnan’s own small business.
“It’s an extra thrill to be next door to supportive friends at The Cape Cod Chronicle, where my communications career began after graduating from Syracuse a few quick decades ago,” she said with a smile.
“I’m very patient and thorough," said Dinnan. The graphic designer/editor feels those are essential qualities in her business. “I’m so happy to work with the committees, boards, chambers, non-profits, ‘the faith community’ and individuals in our community that Marie supported. These days everyone needs an IT person and a communication/marketing person.”
Intern Afton Fay provided another component to Watermark this summer. “It was helpful to bounce ideas off Afton, an ally who will surely make her mark in our field,” Dinnan said.
Dinnan is a skilled business and public relations writer (including editing, proofreading, media relations and feature story writing), and she has extensive experience in desktop publishing/digital design, marketing, advertising, event planning and “creation of every imaginable document, printed or digital.” Dinnan can help you with any project you and your organization have in mind. She’s proficient in all the Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, collaboration and project management tools and financial software programs, plus she’s experienced in website structure, design and content management, Google Analytics and Google Ads and Constant Contact.
This year she is the editor of the Chatham Chamber of Commerce booklet. “I welcome the opportunity to amplify Chatham’s year-round treasures,” she said. She’s also got several book projects (“a children’s book, a poetry collection, a cookbook, and even a historical novel”) going on with authors right now. Watermark does the marketing print material for First Night Chatham, the South Chatham Library, the Eldredge Public Library and the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center. What can’t she do? Call her today with your project!
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
