Latham Centers Set To Host Donkey Dash 5K On May 19

ORLEANS – Who is ready to dash with some donkeys?

Latham Centers will host its first-ever Donkey Dash 5K Road Race at Hog Island Brewery on May 19. The family-friendly road race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and start and finish at Hog Island Brewery.

Latham’s therapeutic donkey program — also known as asinotherapy — provides Latham’s students and adults with the opportunity to care for and interact with the center’s six therapy donkeys under the guidance and supervision of donkey trainer Kris Thompson.

Funds raised from the Donkey Dash 5K will make a direct impact on the student and adult residents at Latham while aiding programs such as Latham Works and Community Volunteers, which help promote confidence, self-worth, and agency in many of Latham’s residents.

Registration costs $50 and can be completed at lathamcenters.org/donkeydash.
