Athlete Of The Week: Gianna Lubash

HARWICH – When Gianna Lubash gains possession under the rim, few opposing defenses can stop her.

The sophomore from Barnstable was nearly perfect for the Cape Cod Tech girls basketball team on Thursday, finishing with 10 points to help the Crusaders cruise to a 49-15 victory over South Shore Vocational Tech.

“She dominates,” Cape Tech coach Nick Conti said about Lubash, who is one of the Crusaders’ only returning starters from last year’s team. “She’s only a sophomore and she’s only going to get better.”

Lubash credited her performance on staying active in the lane and praised her teammates for remaining vocal throughout the game.

“I just had to keep my feet moving,” she said. “The biggest thing is communication and keeping the bench hyped like we did. That was a lot of fun.”
