PLEASANT LAKE – His nickname is Danger.
The Cape Cod Tech football team even has an offense named “Danger” for Danger — also known as senior running back Thomas Allen.
“Danger checked in today,” head coach Calvin Castillias said after the Crusader’s 39-0 win over Monomoy/St. John Paul II on Friday, in which Allen ran for three touchdowns.
“He's hungry,” Castillias said. “He is determined. He set some goals for himself, and I respect that from him.”
With four two-point conversions as well, Allen — an integral part of Cape Tech’s vocational title-winning core last year — accounted for two-thirds of Cape Tech’s point total in the season opener. He chewed up a ton of yardage and had the Crusaders up 24-0 by the middle of the second quarter.
“Just the chemistry, the atmosphere,” Allen said after the game. “The line was great. Quarterback was great. Wideouts were blocking great, and yeah, I just wanted to prove to everybody that we're still here. We're still great.”
