Phyllis E. Tileston

Phyllis E. Tileston passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at the age of 99 years old.

Phyllis was born in Springfield, MA on July 16, 1924. She was the daughter of Evelyn Fortier Thomas and Clayton Thomas.

Phyllis studied radio, television and acting at Kathleen Dell School in Brookline, MA.

Some of Phyllis’s many contributions to Chatham and Cape Cod include being involved in the Chatham Drama Guild,teaching Sunday school at Chatham Methodist Church, where her family attended regularly, co-founder of the Monomoy Branch of Cape Cod Hospital Aid Organization, and founder of the Chatham Housing Authority, to name just a few.

She was formerly the owner of “Whit’s End” Bed & Breakfast soon after her husband passed.

Phyllis was the widow of the late Webster Whitney Tileston, and mother of the late Laurel Ann Tileston.

Phyllis is survived by her 3 sons, David W. Tileston (Andria), Malcolm C. Tileston (Wendy) and Zachary D. Zachary D. Tileston (Christine), her grandchildren Ryan Tileston, Jason W. Tileston, Elizabeth Cuillard, Farran Jalbert and 12 great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Phyllis’s name to the Chatham Housing Authority.
