Historic Harwich Center Tours
HARWICH – Former State Senator Paul Doane has scheduled four walking tours of Harwich Center during which he will provide fact-filled discussions about the village’s rich past, its leading families, and its unique architectural treasures.
Doane has lived in the village for more than 80 years and has acquired a wealth of knowledge of the village’s history. In the two-hour walks participants will learn about local residents creating national impacts and pay a visit to the homesteads and final resting places of leading residents. Doane will give a presentation on the town’s early formation and the political and religious struggles that shaped the town.
The walks will take place on Saturdays, July 11 and 18 and Aug. 8 and 22 at 2 p.m. beginning at the Brooks Academy parking lot. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the Harwich Historical Society website at harwichhistoricalsociety.org.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
