Helen Marie Roth

Helen Marie Roth of Chatham, MA passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 16, 2026 at age 96. She was raised in Somerville, MA, the first of two children born to James and Ellen Cotter of Ireland.
She attended St. Clements church and school, then went on to graduate from Fisher College in Boston. She married Francis J. Roth on May 2, 1953 and over the years they were blessed with 6 children.
   They retired to Chatham from Manlius, NY in 1989, their family enjoying annual reunions on the Cape for the next 36 years.
   Helen’s true passions were family and friends. Warmhearted and curious, she had a real gift for conversation that made others feel comfortable and welcome. She possessed a strong Catholic faith and was very proud of her Irish heritage, enjoying several trips to the “Old Country” with her mother, sister and family. She loved flower gardening, playing bridge with two local groups and enjoyed her brisk walks at Hardings Beach. Helen was a lifelong, passionate member of Red Sox Nation and spent some memorable evenings at Fenway Park over the years.
Helen and Frank shared a loving marriage for 50 years until his passing in 2003. She was predeceased by her sister Mary, and is survived by her children: Maryellen (Bob), Mike (Kim), John (Tammy), Suzanne, Jim (Marti), Nancy (Rob), nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
