Marilyn Reed Gengras was born April 2, 1941, in Kingston, Pennsylvania to Samuel Burrett Reed and Mary Semetkovsky Reed. She attended Hall High School in Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated in the Hall Class of 1959. It was there that she met the love of her life and husband of 63 years Christopher Smith Gengras. They were married on May 25,1963.
Chris and Marilyn welcomed their first son, Keith, in March 1964. Their second son, Scott, was born in December 1968. Their family made their home for many years in Buffalo, New York, where Chris and Marilyn still have many dear friends. In 2010, with both sons married and beginning their own families, Chris and Marilyn fulfilled their dream of retiring to a family home in Orleans on Cape Cod.
Marilyn was a perfectionist and an impeccable homemaker. She was also an outstanding cook and baker. She loved to spend time tending to her flawless gardens. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many hours attending a book club with friends.
Marilyn lived out her final days in the loving care of The Lily House. She passed peacefully on April 8, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Chris, her son Keith, his wife Eve, her oldest granddaughter, Rosalie, her son Scott, his wife Susan, youngest granddaughter, Margaret, and last, but not least, her faithful dog, Finn.
