Our View: Send Us A Letter

by The Cape Cod Chronicle

We’re afraid there will be some furrowed brows when readers scan this week’s letters to the editor. That’s because we had far more submissions than we were able to include.
It’s a wonderful problem for a hometown newspaper to have. One sign of a struggling local paper is a lack of community engagement, often evidenced by a thin letters page.
This week, we again ran two pages of letters, and had to pick and choose from dozens of submissions, mostly related to the upcoming annual town elections and town meetings. We’ll include more in next week’s edition, but there simply won’t be a way to print all of them. We’ve tried to publish a representative sampling of candidate endorsement letters.
The vast majority of letters we received that weren’t related to politics have been shelved until space opens up again in a few weeks, so stay tuned.
But it’s an opportunity to thank you, our readers, for helping to keep The Chronicle a vibrant marketplace of ideas and political viewpoints.
We’re all the better for it.
