Work Begins At Spring Rock Village
BREWSTER – The 16-acre lot designated for Spring Rock Village, the 45-unit affordable rental complex, is officially a work zone.
In early March, crews began surveying the property to mark out the exact construction area, which will be about five acres out of the 16.83-acre property. The complex will include 15 one-bedroom units, 25 two-bedroom and five three-bedroom units across five buildings featuring traditional Cape Cod architecture overlooking a central green space. The remaining management building will include bicycle storage, a central laundry and a community room,
Erosion controls and temporary construction fences were installed to prepare for tree clearing. By midmonth, arborists began tree removal in the designated area. The remaining woodland area will remain natural.
According to the project website, the development prioritizes sustainability with a commitment to carbon-neutral energy efficiency and all-electric mechanical systems. The project aims to achieve Enterprise Green Communities Certification at the zero emissions level.
Assistant Town Manager Donna Kalinick, who has played a big role in the project along with housing coordinator Jill Scalise, said an official groundbreaking is scheduled for June 23.
As of now, construction is projected to be completed by summer 2027. The housing office has not released a date when applications will be available.
