HYANNIS – Nauset sophomore Max Eldred scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Lower Cape team during the 40th Cape Cod High School All-Star Basketball games at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center on March 15.
“It was fun,” Eldred said after the game. “I mean, it was my first one, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was fun to go out there and play.”
The Lower Cape side fell to Upper Cape 145-97, but Eldred, for his part, earned a most valuable player honor after the game. Eldred was also named a Cape and Islands League All-Star this year, too.
“I was hoping to get here,” he said. “So, I mean I was excited when I heard that I was an All-Star, so the hard work paid off.”
In the second quarter, Eldred hit a 3-pointer and soon after drove for a difficult left-handed layup. Then he hit another 3-pointer from way deep. He added 7 more points in the third quarter.
“Felt good to be able to make the shots knowing that I can, and it just felt good to go out there and show everyone that I can hoop,” he said.
