The warm and inviting vibe at Rock Harbor Grill in Orleans is something year-rounders and visitors alike are consistently drawn to. Located in the heart of Orleans on Old Colony Way, Rock Harbor Grill offers up some of the most inventive and delicious dishes in the area. The business changed ownership last fall and the dynamic husband and wife duo of Tommy “Chooch” LeBlanc and Amy Dubis LeBlanc are at the helm of this very popular restaurant.
“We have a pretty long history working in the area,” LeBlanc said. “I started as a dishwasher for Mr. Gardner at Pate’s in 1984 and worked for him for 10 years. Then I went to the [Chatham] Squire and I was there for 25 years. My wife Amy was a longtime Squire person, too, there for 22 years. Richard [Costello] and George [Payne] taught us a lot. They taught us to take care of our help like they are family, our customers, too. That’s what they taught us and what we are continuing to do here. Continue the faith, as they say.”
Many of the bartenders and staff stayed on when the LeBlancs took over Rock Harbor Grill and appreciated it when they made the call to open a little earlier each day at 4 p.m. This has been especially helpful in the darker days of winter.
“We are open seven days a week, all year round,” LeBlanc said. “We open at 4 p.m. now. We found people were arriving early anyway, so this made sense. We get a big bar crowd and most of the regulars keep coming in on a regular basis.”
The expansive bar, one-of-a-kind wood-fired oven and hospitable staff make Rock Harbor Grill a real fan favorite. The menu features inventive starters like quahog bites, wood-fired chicken wings, and devils on horseback (bacon-wrapped stuffed dates), and the pretzel bread is a must try. Yum!
LeBlanc’s own popular “Chooch’s chili” (a pork-based, white bean chili topped with crispy potato chips) is a new fan favorite on the nightly menu. Chooch’s chili will even be featured in the annual Chatham Chili contest this spring.
On the main dish side, there is a fun variety of delicious wood-fired pizzas and sandwiches along with several entrees.
“The wood-fired pizza has always been a staple here. A lot of people come in for that,” LeBlanc said. “We also have great signature dishes like our salmon picata and traditional haddock that is cornmeal encrusted.”
Rock Harbor Grill offers nightly specials throughout the week with featured dishes and special pizza and dessert selections, keeping the vibes continuously upbeat and ever changing. Making the dining experience even more enjoyable, the Leblancs provide ongoing weekly features like Monday fish and chips night, prime rib Tuesdays and burger Thursdays.
“My objective is value for the customer, especially these days with everything being so expensive,” LeBlanc said.
Be sure to stop in to Rock Harbor Grill soon for a delicious night out on the town!
