Eager runners will have two opportunities — both in Chatham — to pound the pavement in races during the week of Thanksgiving.
On the Sunday before the holiday the Chatham in the Fall 10K returns to raise money for the Cape Cod Foster Closet, Sharing Kindness and Cape Cod Athletic Club scholarships. The race begins at 9 a.m. on Nov. 23 at Monomoy Regional Middle School. Runners can complete the 10-kilometer track as an individual or as part of a two-person team relay. Last year’s race saw more than 200 participants.
Registration is $40 to race as an individual ($30 for those 18 years and under) and $60 for the team relay. Medals will be given out after finishing the race, and awards will be announced in the school gym afterwards. Nearly 250 people have already registered. Sign up at runsignup.com/Race/MA/Chatham/ChathamintheFall10kRun.
Registration is similarly open for the 21st annual Chatham Turkey Trot, held on the morning of Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov. 27). The 5-kilometer race begins at 8 a.m. at the parking lot to Oyster Pond on  Stage Harbor Road. The race benefits the Lower Cape Outreach Council.

The race is family-friendly, and strollers are welcome. The course can also be walked. Registration is $45 per person. Registrants can also set up a fundraising page. A record 2,600 people signed up for last year’s race, which — in conjunction with 33 business sponsors — raised more than $100,000 for Lower Cape Outreach Council food pantries and financial assistance programs.

Pre-race registration pick-ups will be held at Marathon Sports in Yarmouth on Tuesday Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Chatham Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. Registration can also be picked up the morning of the race at 7 a.m.
