Brendan Donahue has a thing for trees. “I always loved being outside around trees,” said Donahue, the owner of B’s Trees. (“I was Uncle B to all my nephews,” he says, laughing.) He said he has a deep respect for all things outside and trees dominate the outside world. “I got to know all about trees as well as how to maintain and prune them long before I made them my occupation.” We think he loved climbing trees as a child.

Donahue was born and raised on Cape Cod and as a teenager worked outside in the landscaping business before graduating from Nauset High School. Then he decided to join the United States Marine Corps. After two combat deployments as an infantry team leader in Afghanistan, he returned home to Cape Cod with an honorable discharge. He took up where he left off and worked for various tree companies. “I began subcontracting as a tree climber, and then became certified as an arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture. I started B’s Trees in the spring of 2020.

“Certified arborists have to have at least four years in the industry, pass a test and then maintain their education,” he added.

“When you hire B’s Trees you get a more technical treatment than a couple guys with a bucket truck. Climbers are more sensitive to the tree and the surroundings,” he said. “We’re big into pruning and maintenance.” He told me he understands you can have a reverence for “one of our planet’s most precious resources, and still provide quality tree work and removal.”

In that frame of mind, he and his crew utilize the proper pruning practices according to industry standards along with focusing on tree preservation. When you hire B’s Trees you can expect, along with tree removal and trimming with experienced climbers, these services: aerial rigging, hazardous limb and tree assessments and more. They do ornamental tree pruning plus shrub and perennial pruning too.

“Conserving trees is always a better option than removal, when possible,” he said. But when tree removal is the answer, you can be assured B’s Trees will remove your tree safely. “We are experienced in aerial rigging, and have the skill to remove hazardous trees in both simple and complex situations, such as over houses and service wires.”

Donahue said if you think you need tree work, call to set up a time for a visit. “You can actually call or text. Then after we see what you’d like done, we will email you a detailed quote.”
