BREWSTER – After 10 years at its flagship location, Snowy Owl Coffee plans to have a new home by the end of the year. But regulars can breathe a sigh of relief, as it is moving just down the road.
Currently located at 2624 Main St., also known as “Great Cape, Tiny Village,” Snowy Owl has been a staple coffeehouse for the local community and visitors alike. The operation will take over the old TD Bank building at the corner of Underpass Road and Route 6A, less than a half mile from its current site.
In December, Snowy Owl owners Shayna Ferullo and Manuel Ainzuain said they were looking at all their options after their prior landlord, Stephen Brown, sold their longtime spot. Their number one priority was staying in Brewster, so they were looking for a stable option with longevity.
The owners will be working with a new landlord at the new space. In early July, they were waiting for additional site plans to get drawn up for the space before beginning renovations. While they had planned to move sooner, Ferullo said they experienced some delays with additional plans that needed to be filed.
Last week, Ferullo said they had a good conversation with their new landlord about the progress.
“It’s all looking good and we are excited to get started on the build out,” she said.
David Schlesinger, the new owner of Great Cape, Tiny Village, has been flexible with letting Snowy Owl stay at its current location amid the delays. On July 9, he announced in a facebook post that the coffeehouse will be moving by the first of the year.
He also said he was looking for new tenants to fill the open space.
“If by September I don’t find what feels like a solid path forward to hold the property, I will be forced to start looking at breaking it up and selling it,” he said in the post.
The new location offers the Snowy Owl team more space, paved parking and more visibility.
