Pride-themed Storytime Brings Joy And Inclusivity

by Mackenzie Blue

BREWSTER – Last Friday, the Cape Cod Children’s Place hosted a pride-themed storytime for kids ages 3 to 6 at the Brewster Ladies’ Library.
The morning started with dress-up, which the children took very seriously, donning ties, dresses and other playful outfits.
Next, author Vicki Johnson read her book “Molly’s Tuxedo” aloud. The picture book tells the story of a young girl getting ready for picture day at school. She’s been preparing to wear her brother’s old tuxedo, but finds her mom has purchased a new dress for the occasion. The lighthearted tale is a story about being true to yourself, with illustrations by Gillian Reid.
For the final activity, each attendee was given a paper bag vest to decorate and take home. They were provided tons of decorations including feathers, buttons, markers and glitter glue.
