CHATHAM – You can take the girl out of Cape Cod, but you can’t take Cape Cod out of the girl. At least that’s the case for Ashley Rorro.
“My dad’s a fisherman, my mom’s an artist,” said Rorro, a Truro native who joined The Chronicle staff in March as an advertising sales representative. “It’s sort of a quintessential Cape background.”
After graduating from Nauset Regional High School in 2007, Rorro went west to attend college at the University of California Santa Barbara. She lived and worked there for eight years before a brief stint living in London. She considered returning to California, but her Cape roots ultimately called her back home.
“I’ve done a lot of traveling, which is nice,” she said. “I think that’s made me appreciate the Cape so much more.”
Rorro moved to Orleans, where she owned and operated her own business, Cure Wellness, from 2019 to 2023. She then took a position managing La Bella Vita on Academy Place before coming to The Chronicle.
“We’re thrilled to have Ashley aboard,” Chronicle publisher Hank Hyora said. “She’s already made a great impression in the office and out in the community, and we’re excited about what the future holds.” Rorro will be taking over as Chatham sales representative for the paper from long-time sales rep Amy Tagliaferri, who has retired.
One of the things Rorro said most excites her about her new job is the ability to build relationships with people and businesses in the community.
“I like being able to pop in and celebrate these businesses,” she said. “I think that’s also really important.”
The opportunity to work for a small, independent paper and be a part of a close-knit team is also something that drew Rorro to The Chronicle, she said.
“The support from everybody has been really incredible. I’ve worked in a lot of restaurants and marketing environments, and I’ve never worked at a place where everyone is excited to see you everyday. It’s really refreshing.”
When she’s not out and about representing The Chronicle, Rorro enjoys spending time at the beach, journaling and yoga.
