Athlete Of The Week: Alana Lojko

HARWICH – Alana Lojko is capping off her career the way she started it: with a bang.

Ever since she took over the reins as the Monomoy softball team’s starting pitcher when she was in eighth grade, Lojko has been among the Cape’s brightest softball stars.

That hasn’t changed during the early part of the talented pitcher’s senior season. Lojko retired the first 10 batters she faced before surrendering her first walk in a complete-game effort when the Sharks cruised past Barnstable for a 15-0 mercy-rule victory on April 10.

It was the latest example of Lojko’s dominance. Earlier in the season, the senior recorded three hits, including a triple and five RBIs to help Monomoy (6-0) roll to a 30-6 rout of Sturgis East.

As long as Lojko continues to provide Monomoy with the same spark she has throughout her career, the Sharks will be among the teams to beat in the Cape and Islands.
