Owner David Duarte opened Next Level in 2017, and has been booked with clients from day one. “My clients came here with me from where I was before. The support from Chatham was incredible; people were here waiting for me when I opened the door.”

“Well worth the wait....there’s a reason people are lined up even before they open! You’ll feel like the only person in the building once you’re in the chair! Amazing attention to detail!” said one customer. “Dave is a master! My 5-year old has never had a better haircut! We love it!” said another.

But Duarte, who grew up in Chatham, wanted to open his shop up to more clients. “I was busy but I have room here for another barber.” Duarte’s clients know to book appointments with him on his Facebook page, but he wanted to be able to take walk-ins too. So he hired Brian Kelly.

“I have been cutting hair for seven years,” said Kelly, who is from Ithaca, N.Y. “But we just moved to Chatham so I was thrilled to find David.” Duarte is still appointments only, so Kelly takes all the walk-ins. “I really like having someone here with me,” Duarte said. “I was impressed with Brian’s experience, too.”

Kelly and his family have settled into Chatham, and they plan on staying here. “We bought a house!”

Kelly has seen some new customers (who have become regular customers!) but has plenty of time on his schedule for more. I asked him what his specialty was, and he said “Anything and everything! I do fades, bald fades, trims, beard trims, you name it! I can even do shaves with a straight razor if you prefer. But no perms!” he laughed. Walk-ins are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, but if you have to wait, it’s in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. Next Level now has the capacity to do wedding parties, too. So make a note of that.

Both Duarte and Kelly are attentive and give their customers their full complete attention, and all the reviews say any wait is worth it!

“Let’s show Brian some Cape Cod local support,” said Duarte. “I’m excited to see a lot of customers that we haven’t seen in a while, I fully understand how hard it was to get in the shop before, but I’m confident our guy Brian from upstate New York is going to help change all that for everyone!”
