Allen “Al” Drucker

March 19, 2025

Allen “Al” Drucker of Chatham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the age of 85.

Al leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Avis (Cohen) Drucker. He is also survived by his devoted daughter, Vicki Drucker of Chatham, his caring son-in-law, John Priest of New Hampshire, and his sister, Murial Pastman of Florida. He was predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Drucker Priest.

Following high school, Al attended East Coast Aero Tech, where he earned his license as an aircraft mechanic. He then went on to serve as a proud U.S. Marine for 2 years, continuing as a weekend reservist for six years at Weymouth Naval Air Base, where he serviced incoming and outgoing aircraft.

After graduating from Boston University in 1966 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Al eventually joined The Gillette Company. During his 30 year career with Gillette, he spent extensive time travelling to Japan and Germany, procuring large equipment for their manufacturing plant in Boston. Upon retirement, he and Avis enjoyed travelling across the United States and around the world, including trips to Africa, Russia, Israel and Europe.

Al and Avis loved going to Hardings Beach daily year round, and they never missed a Patriots game on Sunday. They often drove into Boston for pub food before attending BU hockey games. Al loved reminiscing about the kids’ adventures and misadventures, particularly during the years he and Avis spent as cheerleading, soccer, and track parents. He even coached his daughter’s soccer team for a few seasons, which he thoroughly enjoyed. For Avis’s 60th birthday, he planned an 1100-mile road trip to the Grand Canyon in a white Mustang convertible.

Al loved to host barbeques and was no stranger to a mean omelet. He loved celebrating all the Jewish holidays with friends and family. Conducting a lively Passover Seder followed by a traditional meal prepared by Avis was his favorite. And of course, there were the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) luncheons once a month, which he relished.

Throughout his life, Al actively supported his community. He served on the board of Cape Cod Synagogue and as a docent at Chatham Railroad Museum. And he devoted his time and talent as a volunteer at the Museum of Natural History in Brewster and on the Disaster Action Team of The American Red Cross Chapter in Hyannis.

Al had strong friendships, dating all the way back to childhood, and he made sure to stay in touch with all of them.

But family was his greatest joy, particularly the annual visits in August with kids, cousins, aunts and uncles to his Chatham home where they packed into the dining room, elbow to elbow, for too much food and a chorus of The Pickle Song.

Al’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to their extended family, friends, and neighbors for all of their love and support. And to the VNA of Cape Cod Hospice team, they extend their deepest gratitude for their professional and compassionate help.

Funeral Services and Shiva will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
