Orleans Man Sentenced On Child Porn Charges

ORLEANS –  A federal court judge Feb. 27 sentenced an Orleans man to 10 years in prison on charges of possession of child pornography.
Anthony Argo, 34, who pleaded guilty in November, will also be subject to five years of supervised release upon the completion of his prison term, according to a press release from the office of U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley.
Argo was arrested in July and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after he was “identified as the user of a chat application who was expressing sexual interest in minors and sharing CSAM,” according to the release. A search of Argo’s residence uncovered an SD card and numerous USB drives “containing thousands of images depicting child pornography,” including photos of infants.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Argo has prior convictions on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, kidnapping, enticement of a child under 16 and distributing obscene matter to a minor.
The case against Argo was brought through Project Safe Childhood, a coordinated effort from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cases of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
