Athlete Of The Week: Logan Miller

Logan Miller is no stranger to making an impact at both ends of the ice. 

 The junior defenseman was a key contributor for Nauset throughout its 19-0-1 regular season, and head coach Connor Brickley is expecting Miller to continue to make a difference when the top-seeded Warriors open the Division 3 state tournament with a first-round matchup against No. 33 Middleboro (9-9-2) at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday at Charles Moore Arena. 

 “Logan is someone that’s going to be exciting to watch in the playoffs,” Brickley said. “He’s really elevated his game at the offensive side — which has been really crucial — and he quarterbacks our top power-play unit.”

 Although Miller has been a reliable presence in the Warriors’ defensive zone, it’s his development on the offensive end that has Brickley excited about the junior’s growth.

 “He always had good offensive instincts and has always wanted to be a good offensive defenseman, but he’s really learned that in our structure he can continue to develop on the offensive side while not diminishing the defensive side,” Brickley said.

 “He’s one of our most reliable defensemen as far as playing physical and shutting plays down, but his all-around game has significantly grown. He brings a nice X-factor on the back end, and he’s shown it with some big-time goals.”
