Joseph William ‘Bill’ Bello

January 30, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Joseph William “Bill” Bello, a proud Navy veteran, who passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill faced his journey with grace and positivity, leaving behind a legacy of love, inspiration, and over 50 remarkable years in the hospitality industry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Regina, and their children: Regan Kreszswick and her husband Robert, Courtney Bishop and her husband Matthew, Jason Bello and his wife Jodi, Christopher Bello and his wife Amanda, Jonathan Bello and his wife Alex, Corey Bello and Tyler Bello.
Bill’s legacy will continue through his cherished grandchildren—Bailey, Will, Madelyn, Henry, Brooke, Kelly, Lyndon, Kinsey, Amelia, Conrad, and Cayden—and his siblings, brothers Michael and Frank Bello and sister Patricia Appleman.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kelly Bello and Frank Bello.
Bill was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially alongside his beloved wife, Regina. Summers were filled with joy on the Cape in Chatham, MA where he built lasting memories aboard his custom wooden boat, “Henry J,” cheering for the Chatham Anglers at baseball games, enjoying sunsets over Nantucket Sound, clamming on the beach, attending band concerts and watching his grandchildren sail in regattas. When home in Monkton, Bill was a passionate Ravens fan, spending Sundays watching football with his family.  Whether dining at one of his favorite restaurants or preparing a delicious meal at home, he enjoyed sharing his passion for unique and exquisite cuisine.  He traveled often to celebrate his grandchildren’s milestones, including sporting events, birthdays, and musical performances.  Bill’s love for his family and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of sharing these moments with him. He was a man of great wisdom, faith, and compassion, imparting to his family the importance of patience, forgiveness, and responsibility.
Throughout his distinguished career in the hospitality industry, Bill made a lasting impact through his leadership and dedication. After retiring from Marriott International, where he spent 25 successful years, he joined Skye Hospitality as its first employee in 1996. Over the next 15 years, he helped build the company into a thriving business with ten award-winning hotels in the Baltimore region. Bill cultivated a culture of extraordinary hospitality, associate excellence, and employee loyalty, which not only inspired guest satisfaction but also earned Skye over 50 industry awards. His unwavering attention to detail and genuine care for others solidified his reputation as a leader in quality and service.  Among his many achievements, he was honored as the 2010 Executive Manager/Supervisor of the Year by the Maryland Hotel and Lodging Association. Additionally, he led his team to achieve six Hilton Spirit Awards, the highest distinction a team member can earn within the Hilton Brand. His work ethic and dedication to his colleagues set a standard that will live on in the hearts and minds of those who worked alongside him.
His family was his world, and his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his profound faith, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to the many relationships he cherished. While deeply missed by Regina, she finds comfort in knowing he watches over her with the same boundless love and care that marked his life.
