Donald Leroy Langford

Donald Leroy Langford, born on January 13, 1931, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He was the son of the late Alice (White) Brown and her husband, Paul Brown. Don was born and raised in Rhode Island, where he spent much of his life and spent his later years on Cape Cod. He graduated from West High School in Pawtucket in 1948 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force for four years.
After his service, Don earned his degree from Bryant College and then pursued his Master’s in Banking from Brown University. He enjoyed a distinguished career in banking, culminating in his role as CEO of Security Bank and Trust in North Providence, Rhode Island. Don’s work ethic was unparalleled, and he continued working doing computer research up until his passing. His dedication to his career and his commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on both his family and the industry.
Don was an active member of several organizations, including the Small Business Association, the Pawtucket Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, and the Masons, Jenks Lodge. In his personal time, Don enjoyed cooking, woodworking, boating, and sports. He was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots, and he played a role in bringing the Red Sox Triple-A team to Pawtucket.
Above all, Don was a devoted family man. He was known for hosting memorable clam bakes, earning the affectionate title of “Bake Master.” He also had a special love for dogs, particularly Golden Retrievers.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Marion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Barbara (Ross) Langford; his daughters, Donna Mullin and Tracy Gordon (Mike); his grandchildren, Andrew Gordon and Jenna Gordon; his great granddogs, Scottie and Lincoln as well as extended family and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Chapel Committal Service with Military Honors was  held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. A celebration of Don’s life, which will take place on Cape Cod, will be announced at a later date. Don’s unwavering dedication to his family, career, and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
