Athlete Of The Week: Addison Sundby
HARWICH – Addison Sundby’s hard work during the offseason paid off.
The Cape Cod Tech sophomore from Yarmouth was one of the bright spots for the Crusaders during the team’s 48-33 season-opening loss to Cape Cod Academy on Friday evening in Harwich.
Sundby provided the Crusaders (0-1) with a presence in the low post and finished with eight points after scoring four in each half.
“She’s a force,” Cape Tech Nick Conti said. “Her and Gianna (Lubash) make it happen down low with their rebounding and scoring, and the post game from Addie is absolutely fantastic.”
Sundby was at her best when she received the ball on the low block and was able to execute her post moves against Seahawks defenders.
“It’s one of my favorite spots to play,” she said. “I practice year-round and train all the time. It’s the most comfortable for me, so it feels like second nature.”

With just one senior on this year’s team, Sundby and the other underclassmen will be asked to take on a larger role this season.
“It’s competitive, but it’s friendly competition,” she said. “We build each other up, so it’s fun to be on a team like that.”
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
