ELECTION 2025

by Staff Reports

Residents lined up early to cast their ballots in today's presidential election.

Almost half of residents in the area cast their vote early. In Harwich, 5,650 voters cast early ballots, 46 percent of those registered. Long lines snaked around the inside of the community center when polls opened this morning,  and Town Clerk Emily Mitchell said she's optimistic that 10,000 ballots might ultimately be cast.

Chatham Town Clerk Julie Smith reported that 2,843 residents voted early either by mail or in person. That's 45 percent of the total registered voters in town. When the polls opened, lines were shorter than in 2020, she said, but voting remained steady through the day.

Brewster saw 50 percent of registered voters cast early ballots.

Polls close at 8 p.m. We'll be reporting results from Chatham, Harwich, Orleans and Brewster as soon as they are available, right here on our website.
