Good Sports: Pickleball Fundraiser Raises Money For HPC
ORLEANS – Pickleball enthusiasts turned out to Eldredge Park for a good cause on Oct. 14.
More than 50 players turned out for a fundraising tournament in support of the Homeless Prevention Council, with proceeds going to support the nonprofit’s annual Adopt-a-Family program. Jenna Moore of HPC said this year’s tournament raised twice as much as last year’s.
Started 29 years ago, Adopt-a-Family invites members of the community to sponsor families in need by shopping for gifts and other items during the holiday season. More than 5,000 children have been helped through the program since its inception, according to the council.
Two additional pickleball tournaments were held this past weekend in Wellfleet in support of the program, while another tournament in Chatham will be held on Nov. 2.
