Thomas R. O’Connell, 64, of Chatham, MA, passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2024.
Born in Springfield, MA, to the late Edward O’Connell & Catherine O’Connell (née Sullivan), Tom was the youngest of nine siblings and is survived by his brother Jim and his sisters Sheila, Mary, and Frances, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom spent most of his adult life working alongside his family at Old Harbor Fish Co. in Chatham. His warm and engaging personality made him a beloved fixture in the community. Customers frequently left his company feeling uplifted after a friendly chat.
A dedicated and caring individual, Tom was always there for his friends and family. He had a special knack for brightening the lives of his nieces and nephews, often taking them out for pizza and a movie. Tom was also known for his unwavering support, including taking care of pets for loved ones while they were away with the same affection he would give his own.
Tom’s acts of kindness and generosity are too numerous to list fully, but they have left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Tom’s life, in the presence of close family. For those who wish to share, we invite you to leave your thoughts and memories of Tom on his memory wall at: https://memorialsource.com/memorial/thomas-richard-oconnell.
