BREWSTER – For the first time in 22 years, a book about the Cape Cod Baseball League is in the works.
Brewster resident Mark “Pathfinder” Epstein is set to release “Cape Dreams – A Season With the Brewster Whitecaps.” Epstein covered Brewster’s season from wire to wire, attending home games and traveling with the team to provide readers with an inside look at the Cape League through the lens of the Whitecaps.
Although Epstein is unsure when the book will be released, he said Cape League fans can expect to see it on shelves this winter.
“This is my dream to watch my son Carsten play for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League against the best competition in America,” said former Major League pitcher C.C. Sabathia. “I can’t wait for this story to come out. It will be spectacular.”
Baseball Hall of Famer Peter Gammons, who wrote the foreword for the book, said it’s a must-read for baseball fans.
“The life that these kids live here on the Cape is a major step in their careers in professional baseball. This Cape League is so important. Every baseball fan should read this book. This league is critical towards the future success of Major League Baseball.”
