Brian Francis Gilmore

Brian Francis Gilmore, 74, a former Westport resident who was born and raised in town, died Nov. 14, 2023.
He attended Westport schools, from kindergarten to his graduation from Staples High School in 1967. He was active in Little League baseball for many years, and loved the outdoors that was available in Westport. He also attended Camp Mahackeno for many summers and loved it.
He went on to work for the Post Office in Westport for a number of years.
Brian later moved to Cape Cod, which he loved, and spent many years there. He owned Cape and Islands Shredding, a paper-shredding company for all important papers for many businesses on the Cape. He was happy to live on Cape Cod. He found home there. His love for his Harley and El Caminos was undeniable.
He leaves behind, in great sorrow, sisters Deborah MacGilmore of Palm Coast, Fla., and Maggie of Vermont; a beloved son, Jesse Gilmore of Louisiana; and most of all his buddy, his cat, Scrapper.
Thank you to Bayada and Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands for providing the utmost care for Brian. Services will be private, but raise a glass of moonshine and say your goodbyes to the most amazing man who is going to be missed by so many. Ride free and soar high our friend.
Donation to Brewster Animal Rescue League would benefit all the cats that he loved.
