Terraces Celebrates 55 Years In Orleans

ORLEANS – Even though rain fell Thursday afternoon, nothing could dampen the celebratory mood outside the Terraces Orleans.
Under a white tent, acoustic music played as staff, families and local and state officials ate and drank in celebration of the longtime nursing facility’s 55th anniversary. Started by Peter Meade in 1969, the Terraces’ mission of providing quality senior care continues to endure.
The Terraces remained privately owned by the Meade family until 2021, when it was sold to EF Senior Care of Plymouth.
“Seriously folks, if you know anything about EF Senior [Care], we are a team. We are a team of dedicated professionals, and we are all very proud to be the owners of this fine facility,” said Bob Eisenstein, a founding partner with the company.
Music was performed at Thursday’s event courtesy of Terraces staffer Amy Manny. Select Board member Michael Herman recognized the Terraces’ contributions to the community on behalf of the town, and also presented the facility with proclamations from the state Senate and House of Representatives.
Herman recognized the Terraces not just for its role in providing care to local seniors, but as a fixture of Orleans culture. That includes being part of the town’s annual Fourth of July parade route.
“The Terraces has been from the start an integral part of Orleans, putting care first in all they do,” he said. “It has served as a home, a steady employer and a place where people can feel comfortable dropping in on their loved ones.”
For Terraces Administrator Karen Blake, Thursday’s celebration was first and foremost a tribute to the many people who made the facility’s success possible over the last five decades.
“We have hospice. We have our housekeeping staff. We have all of our residents and families,” she said. “CNAs, social workers, the whole town. To everyone who’s made this day so special, thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
