Brewster Pledges To Never Forget 9/11

BREWSTER -- Soon-to-retire Fire Chief Robert Moran led Wednesday evening’s ceremony. He was a fire chief in New Jersey 23 years ago and worked at Ground Zero during the aftermath of the attacks. When he retires next month after 14 years of service in Brewster and 47 years in the fire service, Moran can be assured that Brewster’s commemorations of 9/11 will continue each year, Town Manager Peter Lombardi pledged.
“Sept. 11, 2001 was a day of overwhelming tragedy, but also of immeasurable courage, resilience and unity,” Moran said. In scenes that played out in Manhattan, Washington, D.C. and in the skies over Pennsylvania, citizens and first responders gave their all for others. “Each of these moments represents not only the horrors of the day, but also the courage, compassion, strength and invincible spirit of those who had their lives cut short,” he said, with emotion in his voice.
