Tall Ship Lynx Returns To Chatham

by Staff Reports

CHATHAM – The tall ship Lynx will pay a four-day visit to Stage Harbor Sept. 8 to 12.
A replica of a War of 1812 privateer, the vessel, operated by the nonprofit Lynx Educational Foundation, will be open for tours by school groups and the public while it is docked at Old Mill Boatyard.
The Lynx made its first visit to Chatham last September, hosting visits from residents and students before heading to a storm berth in Woods Hole as Hurricane Lee headed north. No major storms appear in the long-term forecast for next week.
The ship is expected to arrive at approximately 3 p.m. (weather permitting) carrying as much sail as possible and sounding her guns. Lynx will be open for tours by school groups during the mornings of Sept. 9 to 11, with free deck tours for the public from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 10 and 11. Schools can arrange tours by contacting Captain Donald Peacock at www.tallshiplynx.org.
Launched in Rockport, Maine in 2021, the Lynx is preparing to participate in the Sail 250 event celebrating the national 250th anniversary in 2026.
