HARWICH – Chase Yarletts is chomping at the bit.
Yarletts is back for one final football season at Monomoy after taking over the team’s offense as the starting quarterback last fall as a junior. This year, the senior is eager to make his mark and foster a creative and dynamic offense that will help the team compete for a Division 7 playoff berth.
“He’s been dynamite for us over the past two seasons,” Monomoy coach Rob Sliney said. “He came right into camp this year and was ready to make plays.”
Yarletts finished last season by running for a touchdown and throwing for another score in the team’s 42-0 thumping of rival St. John Paul II on Thanksgiving Eve in Sandwich. Sliney said the excitement from that win carried over into the offseason, adding that Yarletts is already eager to open up the offense and help the Sharks offense reach new heights.
“Going into our first scrimmage the other day, he was already asking me about plays that I wasn’t planning on putting in until we get our basics down,” Sliney said. “He’s chomping at the bit for the more complex plays and the more exciting plays and he’s really excited to go.”
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
