Our View: What We’re Thankful For

by The Cape Cod Chronicle

As your hometown newspaper, we have a lot to be thankful for. We’re grateful for the towns we serve, and glad that the people who live there value local news. We’re thankful for the advertisers and subscribers who make our work possible every week. We’re thankful for our coworkers and the chance to continue doing the work that we love, in a time when so many other local news outlets are struggling or vanishing. And for the last 20 years, we’ve been thankful for the privilege of Helping Neighbors, through our annual holiday campaigns to support the Family Pantry of Cape Cod.

Since 2004, the campaigns have raised more than $1.7 million — far more than a small family-run business like the Cape Cod Chronicle could ever give on its own. That’s why, today and every day, we’re thankful for your generosity.

From the largest gifts and matching grants given by people of means to the heartfelt contributions of $10, $5 and even $1 from other donors, the money has made a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors. It means food in the fridge and healthy meals on the table, and that’s huge. Please take a moment to make a contribution at CapeCodChronicle.com or TheFamilyPantry.com.

At a time when the news headlines tell of violence, hatred and strife at home and abroad, we’re glad to be able to share stories of hope. For countless local families, the Family Pantry of Cape Cod helps provide that hope.

As you gather with friends and family today or simply take stock of your blessings, know this:

We’re thankful for you.
