CHATHAM – New England has no shortage of wilderness. Massachusetts, in its own right, is a natural wonder, with seashores, mountains, and forests covering large swaths of the state. But what hides within those natural expanses? What creatures have we yet to discover?

Many believers would answer “Bigfoot,” including author and TV host Ronny LeBlanc. Between his “Monsterland” book franchise, his work on Discovery Channel’s “Expedition Bigfoot,” and his contributions to the Travel Channel’s “Paranormal Caught on Camera,” LeBlanc is not lacking in expertise. He’ll share that at the Eldredge Public Library Aug. 8.

Growing up in Leominster, a hot spot for paranormal activity, LeBlanc has been close to the idea of Bigfoot for most of his life. This deep connection and commitment to uncovering the truth surrounding the iconic beast has allowed LeBlanc to conduct impressive research on the issue, both through field studies and in collaboration with fellow searchers. It is this research that has allowed LeBlanc to revolutionize the way he and others view Sasquatch, opening eyes to what the creature may really be.

“Initially, getting into this, most people think they are looking for an undiscovered primate, an unclassified animal,” said LeBlanc, “But people who have gotten into this on a deep level and researched have discovered this ‘high strangeness.’”

The “high strangeness” LeBlanc describes includes instances of invisibility, high-frequency vibrations used to stun prey, evidence of language comprehension, and more, much of which he has experienced personally on his Bigfoot hunting expeditions.

These super-human traits have led LeBlanc to declare that he “believes these things are, for lack of a better term, alien or interdimensional,” and he is not the first. Many indigenous groups have told stories of supernatural, even spiritual, beings that share traits with what we know today as Bigfoot.

Many modern sightings of Bigfoot have been concentrated in the Pacific Northwest. Yet, according to LeBlanc, these creatures reside throughout the country, and even close to home. “There are hundreds if not thousands of them throughout the country,” he said. “All through New England, Florida, all over the place.”

Leominster, the Bridgewater Triangle, and the Bennington Triangle are all examples of somewhat local Bigfoot activity hotspots. Databases, such as the one available on the Bigfoot Field Research Organization’s website, offer invaluable information for those wishing to embark on their own search for the famous cryptid.

LeBlanc will talk about his research and experiences at the Eldredge Public Library on Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. Register online, as seating will be limited.
