Theater Review: Kids Will Be Enraptured By ‘Elephant And Piggie’ At CCTC/HJT

Looking for a way to entertain and create laughter for children of all ages? Take a trip to the Cape Cod Theatre Company/Harwich Junior Theatre for the wildly fun musical “Elephant And Piggie’s We Are In A Play!”

The musical is directed by Suzette Hutchinson and Robert Wilder. This adorable rendition of the Elephant and Piggie books is brought to life for audiences by Zach Johnson playing Gerald and Madison Mayer as Piggie. The production includes important lessons from the book series such as reminding kids to share, acknowledge friend’s feelings, and to be inclusive in a way that children can relate to.

On stage, the music and dancing are the heart of the show along with heavy doses of laughter. The actors are extremely talented and their commitment to their craft is obvious. The trio of “Squirrels” are magnetic and support the two main characters beautifully. Notably, the pigeon character brings laughter every time he steps on stage. The entire cast has great chemistry and all deserve huge credit for their ability to keep the audience in a constant state of laughter. Towards the end of the show, children and parents are encouraged to get involved and participate alongside the actors, which is a blast for all.

At the conclusion of the show, everyone rushes outside to meet the actors. A photo backdrop can be found by the entrance where families can take pictures and talk to the cast. This is truly a magical finish for the kids as they get to interact with their favorite characters.
