Lower Cape Well Represented On East Division All-Star Team

There will be plenty of familiar faces representing the East Division during Saturday’s Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game.

Twenty-one players from the Lower Cape’s four teams were selected as All-Stars. Brewster leads the way with nine players selected, followed by six from Orleans, four from Chatham and three from Harwich.

Brewster’s entire infield was selected. Catcher Ryder Helfrick (Arkansas), first baseman Brody Donay (Florida), second baseman Kaeden Kent (Texas A&M), shortstop Drew Faurot (Florida State) and third baseman Daniel Cuvet (Miami) were all picked for the East.

Joining them in the outfield will be fellow Whitecaps Nick Dumesnil (California Baptist) and JD Rogers (Vanderbilt), as well as right-handed pitchers Jake Clemente (Florida) and Will Ray (Wake Forest).

The Firebirds’ selections are highlighted by a trio of right-handed pitchers — Callan Fang (Harvard), Itsuki Takemoto (Hawaii) and Cody Bowker (Vanderbilt). First baseman Jake Gurevitch (San Diego), outfielder Ben Zeigler (Hawaii) and utility man Hudson Shupe (Gozaga) will also represent Orleans on the East squad.

Harwich second baseman Cade Kurland (Florida) and utility players Cam Maldonado (Northeastern) and Jake Ogden (UNC Greensboro) will represent the Mariners, while catcher Ike Irish (Auburn), shortstop Aiva Arquette (Washington), outfielder Ashton Larson (Louisiana State) and left-handed pitcher Gabe Van Emon (UConn) will represent the Anglers on the team.

The All-Star festivities are scheduled for Saturday at Guv Fuller Field in Falmouth, and it will be packed with family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon and evening. The gates open at 1:30 p.m. as the day begins with a fan festival featuring giveaways and an autograph session at 2 p.m., followed by the Home Run Derby at 4 p.m. and the All-Star Game at 6 p.m.
